General Assembly of June 10, 2023: Discover the newly elected members of the Board

The Network of Agro-Ecological Initiatives in Morocco (RIAM) held its elective general assembly for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022, in Rabat on June 10, 2023, at the Scientific Institute of Rabat, in accordance with its statutes. This assembly took place in a democratic environment.

The agenda included the reading of the moral report, the financial report, and the renewal of the Strategic Orientation Council (COS) and the Executive Board. After the usual verifications, the President opened the session and, on behalf of the outgoing COS and Executive Board, read the two reports (moral and financial) of the previous term, which were validated by a majority vote after discussion.

After presenting the specific context of the previous term, particularly marked by the pandemic, the moral report highlighted the main activities carried out by the outgoing board both at the national and regional levels.

The reading of the two reports was followed by discussions, during which members shared their views on both the content of the programs and the governance of the network. Relevant recommendations and proposals emerged from these discussions, providing input for the incoming COS and board to develop a strategy that would promote agro-ecology in the country. This included the implementation of recommendations, particularly those related to improving the governance system of RIAM.

After the discussions, the general assembly adopted the moral and financial reports by an absolute majority. Following the validation, the resignation of the outgoing members of the “Strategic Orientation Council” (COS) and the Executive Board members was accepted. The general assembly proceeded with the election of the new members of the COS, who in turn elected the members of the Executive Board for the next term 2023-2026.

The new Executive Board consists of:

Ms. Rachida Mehdioui, President
Mr. Morad Mouhsine, Vice-President
Ms. Raja Jbali, Secretary General
Ms. Hana Nabil, Deputy Secretary General
Mr. Mustapha Belharcha, Treasurer
Mr. Mustapha Brakez, Deputy Treasurer
Mr. Tori Suzuki, Assessor
Before closing the assembly, the members present thanked the outgoing COS and Executive Board members as well as the national and international partners for their support to RIAM. They expressed a strong commitment to strengthening RIAM’s initiatives as a key player in agro-ecology, enhancing the capacities of farmers and other stakeholders involved in promoting agro-ecology in Morocco, and transforming agricultural practices for better valorization, adaptation, and resilience.
