Project Summary: Conserving Bio-Cultural Diversity by Enhancing Community and Ecosystem Resilience – ABN (African Biodiversity Network)

 

The African Biodiversity Network (ABN) is a regional network, addressing the ecological and socio-economic challenges facing the African continent

The ABN was first conceived in 1996 in response to the threats to biodiversity in Africa and the need to develop strong legal instruments to champion this cause at national, regional and international levels.

Currently, ABN has 36 partners from 12 African countries: Benin, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

the implementation and management of the 3-year project entitled: “Conserving Bio-Cultural Diversity by Strengthening Community and Ecosystem Resilience” with funds from SIDA (hereinafter referred to as “the SIDA Project”). The 3-year project started on 1st September 2021 and will end on 31st August 2024.

The project started with an inception phase from September 2021 to March 2022 where all project stakeholders were involved in the collection of baseline data and the official launch of the project. The next phase is the actual implementation of activities after the inception phase.
